This applies to parents bringing in forgotten items for their child, picking up children for appointments, getting messages to your child or your child's teacher, etc. Thank you for your help in this important matter.

    Attendance

Regular attendance is important if your child is to reach a successful level of achievements. Please call 260-665-2014 before 8:30 a.m. each day your child is ill or will be absent.

    Medication

All medicine to be taken at school must be sent in the original container with a note giving permission to take, dosage, and times the student is to take it. Special permission slips are available in the school office for this purpose.

    Lunches

Hot lunches and breakfast will be available to those who want them. Lunches will be $2.20 per meal including milk.  For adults who may want to join a student for lunch after making arrangements through the child's teacher, it is $3.50 per lunch. Student breakfast is $1.45 per day with milk or juice; adult breakfast is $1.85. When sending money for the lunch account, checks should be made out to "MSD School Lunch Fund.” No charging will be allowed at any time.

    Principal's Message

Welcome to Carlin Park Elementary School! Our building is named after the late honorable Judge Clyde C. Carlin an early advocate for education in Steuben County who served Steuben County as Circuit Court Judge. We are located in Angola, a small town in northeastern Indiana, known for our 101 lakes within the county. We are a k-5 configuration with 265 students. Seventy-five percent of our student body is Caucasian, twenty percent is Hispanic, and five percent is of ethnic decent. We have additional program support from one all day kindergarten program, learning disabled, mildly mentally disabled, music, art, physical education, English as a second language, library, speech and hearing, guidance and after school child care. Our school has a staff of nineteen classroom teachers.

We believe in success for all students and recognize that success can be measured in many ways. We continue to celebrate small successes on a regular basis. We have an active and supportive Booster Club and encourage all of our parents to become involved with their child’s education by taking an active part. We have an excellent mentoring program with Angola High School that links elementary and high school students together during part of the school day. We are fortunate to have parent and community patrons who mentor and tutor students throughout the school year. We are proud of our relationship with near by Trine University and the partnership we have developed over the years. We continue to mentor prospective teachers during the student teaching experience and related field observations within the elementary setting.

You are invited to link onto our district and school site to learn more about our corporation and Carlin Park Elementary School www.msdsteuben.k12.in.us. We look forward to making your child’s school experience one that is rewarding, challenging and memorable.
